Ascension Thursday

Next Thursday is Ascension Thursday. For many years I missed the significance of this Holy Day.  This showed, for the apostles, who would offer the eternal sacrifice once Christ left, that God the Father accepted Jesus Christs sacrifice. But because of Jesus’ infinite character as the second person of the Blessed Trinity, He could make the sacrifice extend its efficacy throughout the rest of time, renewed truly in the sacrifice of the mass, through his ministers the priests/bishops/popes.  The sacrifice of the mass, all true Catholics before 1968 believed was the selfsame sacrifice of Calvary carried forward in an unbloodied manner and based on John 6:53-70, the bread and wine sacrificed became truly Jesus Christ Himself in person, the essence of the bread and wine actually and truly becoming Him. After that year Catholics slowly fell away from these ideas except for traditional Catholics.
