As I remember it was only as of a few years ago (few being a relative term) that I first heard about sacramentals and subsequently wondered what they were. Well item 1667 from the catechism of the catholic church (1667 CCC) describes sacramentals as :” . . . These are sacred signs which bear a resemblance to the sacraments. They signify effects, particularly of a spiritual nature, which are obtained through the intercession of the Church. By them men are disposed to receive the chief effect of the sacraments, and various occasions in life are rendered holy.” A good article on them and their appication can be found at the following URL: https://catholic-link.org/a-list-of-sacramentals-to-use/. The following are a list of those covered in the article:
- Holy Water
- The rosary
- The Crucifix
