Ash Wednesday

Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday is the start of the Catholic season of Lent which ends with the Triduum – Holy Thursday (the last supper), Good Friday (Jesus Christ’s passion and death), Holy Saturday, and Easter (Jesus Christs resurrection which represents the concrete evidence that He was God and the assurance that we will one day rise again with our bodies to either everlasting charity and happiness or eternal suffering and shame).  During this period, we as Catholics fast on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays in Lent.  We meditate on our Lord Jesus Christs death and do penance and meditate on our own sinfulness and renew a firm commitment to amend our lives and avoid sin and its near occasions.Ash Wednesday
