Holy Thursday the Last Supper

Much is not made clear when it comes to the Holy sacrifice of the mass in most non-traditional (those that do not offer the holy sacrifice of the mass in Latin) parishes, with regard to Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Ascension. For an even deeper understanding I would suggest reading Dr. Scott Hahn’s book The Lamb’s Supper: The Mass as Heaven on Earth.

In the last supper, Jesus Christ offers himself as a sacrifice to God. Much is made of the fact that His death on Calvary was a sacrifice offered to make amends for Adam and Eve’s original sin which damaged the soul’s of all their descendants by giving them the knowledge of evil by eating of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (they already had the knowledge of good, which was the only knowledge they had living in paradise).  But know matter how bloody the death of anyone, it is not a sacrifice unless it is offered as such.  This is what Christ did at the last supper, He offered himself as a sacrifice for the many for the forgiveness of sins, and those words are repeated in every mass during the consecration which once again receives its efficacy being the self-same sacrifice as offered on Calvary.
