Books on the True Religion

A short pamphlet entitled “The True Religion” by Father E. C. Messenger, Phd., published by the Catholic Truth Society (C.T.S.) in London England, the time at which it was published, December of 1959, had His Eminence Cardinal Godfrey, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Westminster as its president, and does not have an Imprimatur per se. In my opinion does not require one since is trying to prove using logic and revelation that the Roman Catholic Religion is the True Religion whose authority can be relied on i.e. defending accepted doctrine and not advancing anything controversial concerning morals. The current publisher of the reprinted version is as follows and is available on amazon.com.

Another book not only attempting to defend Roman Catholicism as being the True Religion but dealing with the Dogmatic Theology in depth is “The True Religion” by Msgr. G. Van Noort Translated by John J. Castelot and William R. Murphy. The copy I own is a revised English translation of the Latin in 1961 Newman press Westminster, Maryland edition. It is currently available from amazon as follows:

The second to last book is quite old, actually a 1890 publication reprinted by Marian Publications in 1973 and is entitled: “Divine Parables Explained; or, the Church of the Parables” by Father Joseph Prachensky. It shows me that only if you interpret some of the parables from a Catholic, and arguably from the True Religion perspective, do the details make more sense.

Permissu Superiorum: Leo A. Pursley, D.D.

Bishop of Fort Wayne – South Bend

Finally, there is a more recent book “Reasonable Pleasures: The Strange Coherences of Catholicism” by Father James V. Schall, SJ which does not, as I remember carry an Imprimatur or Nihil Obstat (or even Permissu Superiorum seal of approval from his Jesuit superiors), thought this priest seems to be pretty ORTHODOX non-modernist type (at least as far as I have read) and he points out some spurious items in Catholicism that make a lot of sense when contemplated.
