God is all knowing, which includes not only pure knowledge but how to employ that knowledge in an erudite way most convincing to what ever creature it is being presented to, and in reference to the liturgy that creature is the reasoning animal – man. The Church’s job is, from the youngest reasoning child to the current pope is, to use a phrase Archbishop Lefevre used in his books, to “deliver the mail.” Meaning to take the deposit of faith left by Jesus Christ and to deliver it to all future generations until the end of time, as given through holy scripture and holy tradition without change or censorship (Matthew 28:20). This is because God is a transcendent God, all knowing, especially of knowing of man’s predilection to “make things better.” That is why scripture relates that Jesus Christ, He is as is God the Trinity, the same yesterday, today, and forever (Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8). He is always the same, that is why dogma, that is foundational belief, can never change. As we can build all types of things based on the construction of the universe, the laws which govern atoms, photons, protons neutrons and electrons will never change from now until the end of the universe. What is given to us in holy scripture and Catholic dogma, given to us by Jesus Christ can never change. It can be elucidated on but never added or subtracted from – that is changed. We can construct clearer concepts but we can change what dogma scripture has established just like we can’t change the nature of the fundamental building blooks of the universe such as atoms, photons and the laws that govern how they work.
The last post was about how the new missal was mistranslated from the old Latin mass. If you inaccurately say something is something that it is not i.e. mistranslate something, it is a lie. John 8:44 basically says if you lie, you are of the devil. The enemy of man is not someone who should be translating the device which God made to save man’s soul. Now I say the enemy of man and not God because so many people put God on the same level as the devil. The devil is not God’s enemy, he is a creature which God, if not an all-good God could erase from existence with just a thought. God as the essence of existence, the non-contingent Being is what keeps the devil in existence. Without God the devil could not exist. He can frustrate part of Gods plan to get the maximum number of men to heaven but the devil is no threat whatsoever to God, or in any way even remotely equal to God as some ancient heresies or religions imply.
So knowing that the new mass is basically based on a lie, on just one point, promoting the Pelagian heresy (John 5:15 showing dogma which paints this concept of being able to save ourselves without Gods help as wrong), accepting it, in that it, in essence, preaches against what Christ and his apostle taught even if it is promulgated by the pope, we cannot accept it and indeed Galatians 1:8-12 says we must reject it. The reason is based on the Latin adage lex orandi, lex credendi (the law of prayer is the law of belief). Changing the mass is how the Catholic monk Martin Luther and Catholic Bishop Crammer changed the “religion” and dogma of Germany and England from catholic to protestant.
If we look at the church, as a body (the metaphor Christ used) as the spouse of Christ, and that the mass was basically the heart Catholicism, like the organ of the body it needed to mature. If we accept that after an organ of the body matures if changes very little after that and never regresses, if we assume that the mass fully matured when Pius V canonized the mass, the current church going “back to the ancient, first 2 centuries, form of the mass,” does not conform to Christs metaphor of a body, His spouse. There are small changes to the body but not the profound changes that occur before maturity. To have a committee like Paul VI used to change the mass profoundly does not fit the body metaphor of Christ. Small changes needed to fight against becoming “of the world” instead of “just in it and not of it” or to fight a new heresy, make sense, as the example of the body changing to fight an infection, done carefully not to morph belief are the only changes that should be accepted. In fact, the best way, I think, in my humble opinion, to fight the latest strong heresy, modernism – the synthesis of all heresies, is to keep the mass solidly the same in Latin to prevent perverting dogma in any way through small nuanced changes as were examples shown in the mistranslation to imply, if not outright promote heresies like the Pelagian heresy.
