When younger I watched quite a few Saturday morning cartoons which are now available on DVD. Among the best adventure cartoons were:
Shazzan – in this adventure a male female set of twins find a pair of rings that when joined along a jagged fitting edge and name was mentioned called forth a genie name Shazzan. Upon finding these set of rings and joining them for the first time they were sent back in time to return the rings to their rightful owner and encounter various wizard and sorcerers and other magical problems that try to stop them or try to take the rings.
Space Ghost – batman like character who had “power bands” which when put on his wrists made him capable of projecting freeze rays, laser like rays and heat rays and the like from his fisted hands. They could also cause him to become invisible (thus the name space ghost) with 2 young teenage wards: Jan – a female and Jas – a male who could also turn invisible and assisted space ghost in fighting crime in space.
The Herculoids – the amazon summary reads: Somewhere out in deep space — and out of the creative imagination of the animation aces of Hanna-Barbera Studios — live the Herculoids. Humanoid Zandor, along with his wife Tara and son Dorno, lead a group of unique creatures: Zok the flying [laser eye shooting] dragon, powerful simian Igoo (who possesses rock-like skin), rhinoceros hybrid Tundro and two protoplasmic wonders appropriately named Gloop and Gleep. Together, they use their diverse super strengths to defend their utopian planet against attack from such sinister invaders as the Pod Creatures, the Reptons and the Mutoids.
Lancelot link secret chimp – this was a live action show with trained chimps carrying out various secret agent missions with a comedic setting.
Banana Splits – bunch of bandmembers dressed up in goofy animal suits that sponsored cartoons and between they would have crazy romps to music.
Secret Squirrel – a cartoon squirrel with his side kick Morocco mole who carried out certain secret agent missions.
Mighty Mouse – a super mouse hero like superman.
Bugs Bunny – Goofy romps where he and sometimes his buddy daffy duck were hunted by Elmer J. Fudd and had interactions with various other Charcters.
Scobie Doo – a crew of 2 guys and 2 gals and one dog named scoobie doo solve mysteries.
Josie and the pussycats – the amazon summary reads: An all-girl rock band! Catchy tunes! Exotic adventures! Fabulous hair! Lead guitarist Josie and Pussycats Melody and Valerie sing their way through a slew of escapades as an assortment of busy rascals tries to kidnap, drown and otherwise harass the girls. But Josie and the Pussycats keep right on singing while they circle the globe, bringing music and mayhem wherever they go.
Jonny Quest – the amazon summary reads: TV’s first animated action-adventure series is about to take you on a breathless ride, in the fantastic exploits of brave and brainy 11-year-old Jonathan Quest. Jonny Quest draws on science and detective-style logic to solve mysteries and apprehend sophisticated villains.
