Movie Review of the Covenant

If you google “definition covenant bible dictionary,” this is the result:  the conditional promises made to humanity by God, as revealed in Scripture. the agreement between God and the ancient Israelites, in which God promised to protect them if they kept His law and were faithful to Him.

This movie I think was a good secular analogy that gives a clear illustration of this definition. The movie is about a family man who is a US soldier and his interpreter who is also a family man, in a combat unit in Afghanistan, whose mission is to find and destroy improvised explosive device “factories.”  (usually a 2000-3000 foot square building or room, hidden or in the middle of nowhere). The interpreters that work with the US are promised an American visa and I think a path to citizenship if they promise to serve the American army faithfully (the covenant).  Well the unit meets an ambush and the US soldier is badly wounded and the rest of his unit is killed but the interpreter manages to save his life, and get him out of Talaban territory. Well as we know the American government pulls the unit out while the US soldier is still in the hospital and the interpreter fails to get his visa before they pull out so he can leave with them. The rest of the movie is the US soldier trying to fulfil the US’s covenant with the interpreter.  It is a good movie with a lot of action and violence and I think some but very little profanity, but no nudity in other words not really for immature children.
